Lá Breithe GCN..!

GCN Ireland's gay and lesbian mag is 21 and is celebrating by having a bash in Tripod on Thursday February 19th....Should be fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...!

The curious case of the lime green VW Beatle

One of my all time fave films is SUPERSTAR with Molly Shannon. I have seen it at 50 times. On my about 3rd or 4th viewing of it i spotted that in nearly every scene that is outside there is at least one lime green beatle. I have yet to sit down and count how many times it actually appears.

The lime green VW Beatle isnt just in Superstar, its got a cameo in loads of TV shows, and on the street. I seem to being followed around by them.

I should stop noticing shit really or start noticing important stuff...!

Benders

So a few years ago i was working in hospitality and would have to order loads of different things to do with tea and coffee, and such is my capability to notice odd things in normal places i spotted that the coffee cups we used were called benders. This made me chuckle in the most childish of ways, in fact i took a photo on my phone and sent it to my mate.

Last week i was in Berlin and we were standing on the bottom platform of Ostkreuz station and we got some tea - as it was bitterly cold. I noticed that the cup was the same and voila it was a Benders cup. Again i laughed.

then last night as i tucked into a double episode of shameless i noticed that in a scene with Frank and a fellow juror there were Benders coffee cups on the table.

Just goes to show there are Benders everywhere.

i used to drive

when i drove i drove a fiat punto which myself and a few friends (Joycey, JB and Sorchaballs) decided to pimp up dyke style.

JB acquired, from a scrap yard, a C from an old Citroen.

We picked off the P and super glued (thanks to the evrything store in Ringsend) the C, so the badge would read CUNTO.

she was a stunner. my friends mike and liam thought that i should have tip exed out the A and the H in the cliath part of baile atha cliatha so it would say baile atha clit. i thought this to be to illegal.

the cunto got alot of attion, i think even Grainne Seoige has a picture on her phone.

gardai even took pictures of it, and on one famous incident beeped their horn and hollered at us.

she did get pulled in once or twice and i got a talking to, but i played dumb and stuck it to the law.

alas her last days were nigh, this time last year ago to be precise and in true girl racer style i wrote the poor old thing off.

she served me and my friends well so in true irish style we held a wake for her.

the cunto we miss you.

lol

things i spot in posters, and such

ok i'm very observant and i do love a good chuckle. so i tend to look at signs and posters and get a good giggle out of them especially when they are like the below examples.

exhibit a.

i found this gem in a halal vegtable shop off harcourt st. a few months ago. not only did me and my friends stick out like sore thumbs buying butternut squash and seasame seed bread stciks (not that nice by the by) but when i started to chuckle aloud a few heads turned.

exhibit b.

i was waiting onthe quays for my dear housemate weeney to pick me up from a rehearsal on a dreary Dublin night when i started to read to deals that the chinese buffet, Jimmy Chungs on eden quay Scotlands best buffet or something like that, well when i had stopped laughing at the Scotland part i noticed this little terms and conditions note...!

puhriceless...! and not just a tenner for all you can eat, if you get me!

Random Point of Information 1

FACT: Screen 9 in the Parnell St Branch is an oddity.
Firstly there are no drinks holders in the seats.

Secondly there is no ROW I. It skips from H - J.

Thirdly the rows begin with the number 7 and not the number 1.

How odd.

(These are the things that occupy space in my head)
